Robert Burns

Hollywood actor Brian Cox will read one of Robert Burns’s most famous poems in a short film made for the Bard’s new birthplace museum.

The X-Men 2 star has recorded the vocals for the Tam o’ Shanter film that will be shown in the £21million museum which opens in November in Alloway, Ayrshire.

A sung version of Red Red Rose by former Fairground Attraction singer and Burns ambassador Eddi Reader will be used in another film.

And Law And Order: UK star Bill Paterson has recorded vocals for To A Mouse to accompany another animated film.

A fourth film illustrates A Man’s A Man by showing actors and actresses with fewer and fewer clothes on.

Dundee-born Cox said: “I’m thrilled to be involved in the museum and look forward to seeing its representation of the energy and beauty of Burns’s work to a new generation.”

The films have all been commissioned by the National Trust for Scotland for the new museum.
